gdgt (pronounced "g-d-g-t" or "gadget") is where social networking meets the gadget world. Gadget lovers alike simply make an account then from there they can search through the gdgt database and find and add the gadgets that they own, gadgets that they want, or even those that they have had in the past. Can't find it? Gdgt allows users to add new gadgets to their database so that others can add them to their various lists. The gdgt database for each gadget gives you the full specs of the device, user reviews, and all discussion threads it's featured in.
Once you have your gadgets all picked out, jump in and join the community by discussing your gadgets and sharing the experiences you've had. The community aspect of gdgt really seems like it has the potential to grow into a very solid, user driven, product review database that users can really take advantage of when buying new gadgets and electronics alike. I know that when Im looking into a new camera, or a new monitor, or any new electronic device, I look for solid customer reviews that show the good and bad of the product, but more importantly reviews where the reviewer really explains their experience with the product (those of you that are frequent newgg shoppers know what Im talking about) and I think gdgt can be a great new source for these reviews that users can trust. As a community driven site, not only can users leave reviews and comments, but they can even start threads on products and discuss the device with other users. Being a social networking site, there's gotta be a way to make friends or something right? On gdgt, you can follow and friend other users and get updated on reviews they've left, gadgets they own, the ones they want, and the ones they've had in the past. In an internet driven society like today, everyone likes to share stuff from all of their social networks to show what they've been up to. Gdgt gives you options to embed their widget in your facebook page, on your Wordpress blog, and virtually every other major social networking site and blog service out there.
There ya go, a review of gdgt in a nutshell. If you want more information, head on over to the site. They even got Veronica Belmont to do a video introduction for them, giving you a nice overview of the site (hopefully filling in any holes that I might have missed) and its main features.
